My Missionary Journey

From Accountant to Missionary – A Story of Radical Transformation

🙏 The Encounter That Changed Everything

My story in missions began when I was fifteen years old. My aunt once told me that praying was like talking to your best friend — that I could tell God everything in my heart, and He would listen. One day, I took her advice, and that day, God listened to me. He healed me deeply and brought to my mind everything I had lived in those first fifteen years. It wasn’t easy. I carried resentment against my uncle, who had sold all my mother’s furniture. For more than four years, I held anger and bitterness in my heart, but in that moment of prayer, God made that pain die so I could experience something better and greater — His presence and His love.

❤️ The Birth of a Passion

I fell in love with missions. Every missionary conference, every mission video — my heart burned. I began to preach the Gospel in my school. My classmates mocked me, calling me “pastor,” but I didn’t stop. Every day, I shared about Jesus. During that time, I also served in my church, working with children aged 5 to 10, using Christian puppets to tell Bible stories in schools. It was an amazing season — but when adulthood came, I completely walked away from missions.

💼 Ten Years in Accounting

I chose the accounting profession and followed it for ten years. I felt like my life was on autopilot — just like the movie “Click.” I was living without purpose, distracted by money and success. My eyes were not on the Lord, and I fell into several traps along the way. But even in that time, God had a door of hope waiting for me.

🔥 The Reawakening of My Calling

At 27, I returned to missions. In 2019, I joined the Urban Missions School (YWAM Campinas, Brazil). That time felt like being reborn — like a phoenix rising. My desire to follow the Master was rekindled. But I had questions: I was already an accountant with an office, employees, and clients. “God, what about all that?” So I prayed a simple but dangerous prayer: “Lord, prepare everything for me to go into missions.” And He did — step by step, over the next four years.

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” — Exodus 14:14

🛣️ The Steps Toward Obedience

In 2019, I studied and later served as staff at the Urban Missions School. Then the pandemic came, and everything stopped. God redirected me to a local ministry that did night evangelism in one of the largest open prostitution zones in Latin America. Every week, we prayed, worshiped, and went out into the dark streets to share the Gospel. It was heavy. Real. Transforming.

In 2021, I helped launch and lead the Urban Missions School again — in my city and later in Campinas in 2022. During that time, God rearranged everything: I moved my accounting office online, trained my mother to manage it, and even saw God bless her with a new marriage. He was removing every excuse I had left.

The Supernatural Confirmations

📖 First Confirmation

One Sunday, I was visiting a church in Campinas. Before going, I prayed: “God, if You truly want me in full-time missions, let the preacher speak from Jeremiah 1 today.” And yes — that was the message that morning. It was an undeniable confirmation. But I asked for another sign.

✝️ Final Confirmation

Later, at another church, an artist was painting during worship. He painted a cross on a dark background with the word ‘Testimony.’ At the end, he pointed at me and said, “This painting is for a missionary. God is confirming your calling today.” He didn’t know me — but God did. That was the moment I stopped running and surrendered fully to the mission.

🤔 And What About You?

This was my story — but what about you? What has God been speaking to you about missions? Let’s dive into what He is doing in Brazil.

“God doesn’t call the qualified — He qualifies the called. My journey from accountant to missionary is living proof of that.”

Maybe you’re not called to leave everything and go to the mission field, but God still has a unique purpose for your life — in your work, family, or community. What matters most is a heart that listens and obeys.
